Purpose
Located on the banks of the Saône, Trompe le Monde adopts the typical shape of a billboard (4 meters by 3) but leads to a distortion : there is a hole, in which the viewer can sit thank to an access stairway. The disruption has a double effect : half-billboard, half-cabin, the device shows the distance between the contemporary pratice and the decorative tradition, as well as the one between the functionnal architecture and the in situ piece of art.
Made of polished stainless steel, the billboard acts like a mirror that reflects the hybrid landscape of Lyon (half-bucolic, half-urban).
The viewer is inviting to merge himself into the reflection of his environment and experience this reverse trompe-l'oeil.
